Captain Gregory's Speakeasy - Old Town, Alexandria, VA

 

Award-winning, intimate craft cocktail bar Captain Gregory’s Speakeasy in Old Town Alexandria has recently undergone a significant expansion and remodel, completed in February 2025. The Speakeasy's updated space includes a revamped layout, incorporating the adjoining former donut/sandwich shop and the existing commercial kitchen. 

 

ALine Architecture, who previously provided architectural and engineering design services for the original Speakeasy and the Sugarshack Donuts shop, returned to oversee this transformation by preparing the permit plans and facilitating the building permit. 

 

The expansion features a relocated and enlarged bar and expanded seating areas designed to create a more open yet dimmed and intimate atmosphere. The updated design carries forward the nautical and tropical island-inspired vibe, enhancing Captain Gregory's Speakeasy mystique while offering a fresh, inviting experience.
